BEGININGS

I start this blog with a post about the design process for the CHURCHILL LIVE set. The show is a stand up comedy recorded live during a perfomance.

The shows original set was very colorful but small and constricting, so the new design had to create an illusion of space. It also had to be easy to set rig and derig.

fa

creating the illusion of space was done by making the front of the set curved which presented problems with making fold able rostrum out of curves. The red squares are of rostrum that was full and were 8 by 4'. The Pink were rostrum that had more than 3/4 of there surface area not taken up by curves. While the greens were rostrum that had curves over 1/2 of their surface area.

The Backdrops are Perspex suspended on curved metal frames. The doorway is a blackdrop with fairy lights to create the illusion of a tunnel and depth...
The Perspex has been treated with translucent vinyl Matt sticker that has been printed with images of sunspots to add colour to the set.

Will add bits and peices from old jobs and current projects and experiments.
